Fire Up Flavor with Grilled Steak and Alfredo-Inspired Sauce

July 2026

Some meals are made for outdoor cooking season and this one definitely earns a top spot on the list. Grilled Steak with Alfredo-Inspired Sauce brings together bold, savory flavor with a rich, creamy finish that makes the whole meal feel a little special.

What makes this recipe especially fun is the contrast of flavors and textures. From the smoky char of the grilled New York strip steak and asparagus to the tender potatoes and decadent Alfredo-inspired sauce, every bite feels balanced, satisfying and full of flavor.

It may sound a little elevated, but it is easy enough for a weeknight and special enough for a relaxed weekend meal—whether you are entertaining guests or simply making dinner a little more memorable.

Ingredients

For the steak and sides:

  • New York strip steak (1 per person)
  • 1 bundle of asparagus
  • 1 lb small potatoes, halved
  • 2 tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3–4 sprigs of rosemary
  • Green onions to garnish
  • Olive oil

For the Alfredo-inspired sauce:

  • 1 tbsp truffle oil
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped basil leaves
  • 1 pinch grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 squeeze of lemon juice

Directions

  1. Heat the grill.
Preheat your propane-powered grill to medium heat, about 375°F. Place a small saucepan on the cooking grate to warm as it heats up.
  2. Season the steak.
Coat the steak with olive oil, salt, pepper and rosemary on both sides.
  3. Prep the potatoes.
In a large bowl, toss the halved potatoes with olive oil, paprika, salt and pepper. Place them in a grill basket.
  4. Season the asparagus.
Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  5. Grill everything.
Place the potatoes, steak and asparagus on the grill. Flip as needed and cook until everything is done to your liking. Remove from heat and let rest.
  6. Make the sauce.
In a cast iron pot, combine butter, truffle oil, garlic, cream, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Once simmering, add parmesan, basil and lemon juice. Stir until creamy and smooth.
  7. Serve and enjoy.
Plate the steak with the grilled asparagus and potatoes, then spoon the Alfredo-inspired sauce over the top.
