Strawberry Stuffed French Toast
Strawberry-Sstuffed French toast is the perfect way to make your loved ones feel special and appreciated. With its creamy filling, fresh strawberries and golden-brown brioche, this breakfast is exceptional any time of the year, but especially when you want to show a little extra love.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup
- ¼ cup diced strawberries (plus more for serving)
- 12 slices brioche bread (one loaf)
- 1 cup milk
- 4 eggs
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter
Directions
- In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese with the maple syrup and diced strawberries. Set aside.
- In a large shallow bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon and salt.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on six slices of the brioche. Seal with the remaining six slices to form sandwiches.
- Heat a medium non-stick skillet over medium heat and add ½ tablespoon of butter to the skillet.
- Dip each stuffed brioche sandwich into the egg and milk mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated in the batter.
- Place the coated sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown. Flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side. Repeat with the remaining sandwiches, adding butter as needed.
- Remove from the skillet and serve warm with extra strawberries, maple syrup and a sprinkle of powdered sugar, if desired.
